Stonethrow Fly Fishing Lodge New Zealand, overlooking the trout filled Whanganui River offers guided fly fishing tours and quality accommodation in a self contained apartment. Our New Zealand fly fishing lodge is situated in a rural setting near Taumarunui and close to some of the best fly fishing rivers and lakes in New Zealand's beautiful North Island.

Stonethrow Fly Fishing Lodge specialises in custom made fly fishing vacations. Your hosts Charlie and Nadine try to differ from other New Zealand fly fishing lodges by making your New Zealand fishing holiday more relaxed in a friendly, easy going rural atmosphere. Our aim is to make your fly fishing vacation a memorable experience.

Stonethrow Fishing Lodge is 10km from Taumarunui in the centre of the North Island of New Zealand. We’re 3 hours south of Auckland Airport and only 2 hours south of Hamilton Airport which takes international flights from Australia.

The modern fishing lodge is a studio apartment separate from the owners’ house. It is comfortable and well appointed with Sky TV, wireless broadband and is spacious and private, making the perfect resting place after a great day fly fishing. Relax in the evening, just a stone throw from the river, watching the trout rise to an evening hatch.

For non fly fishing companions there are many local activities listed on our activities and attractions page from kayaking the Whanganui River right next door, to day trips to see some of New Zealands fabulous scenery and unique places.
